About Hidden Patterns

I started Hidden Patterns because I needed to understand myself.

Not in the abstract way that people say they want to understand themselves — but in the specific, uncomfortable way that comes from noticing the same patterns repeating in your life and realizing that you have no idea why.

I am a student of clinical psychoanalysis. I write about what I am learning — not from a clinical distance, but from inside the process. I write about the patterns that shape behavior before anyone decides to behave that way. About the fears that organize relationships before either person is aware they are afraid. About the stories people carry about themselves that were written long before they were old enough to question them.

The articles on this site draw on psychoanalytic theory, psychological research, and my own experience of trying to understand the gap between who I intend to be and who I actually turn out to be in the moments that matter.

I am not a therapist. I am not offering clinical advice. I am offering the perspective of someone who is in the middle of the same work — and who finds that putting it into words makes it more visible, for me and, I hope, for you.

WHAT YOU WILL FIND HERE

Articles about narcissism, the Dark Triad, and the psychology of manipulation — because understanding these patterns protects people and helps them recognize what they are dealing with.

Articles about adolescence and identity — because the patterns that shape adult life are mostly assembled during years that most people do not examine closely enough.

Articles about aging and life review — because the questions that arrive in later life are among the most psychologically significant available, and they deserve more than platitudes.

Film and series analysis — because fiction sometimes shows the interior of experience more precisely than clinical description can.

Dream analysis — because dreams are the unconscious thinking out loud, and most people have no framework for what they are hearing.
